The introduction of voice broadcast speakers which enable CCTV operators in the Control Room to challenge and warn miscreants that they are being monitored on CCTV, thereby reducing antisocial behaviour and minor criminal offences.

The town centre cameras are part of the 81 public space cameras covering the borough of South Tyneside.

This further improvement can only increase the benefits CCTV has brought to the quality of life for those living, working and visiting South Tyneside”.
