Northern Rock security is being stepped up this month as North East CCTV specialist 2020 Vision is carrying out a £120,000 revamp to upgrade surveillance facilities.
A state of the art CCTV control room will be installed, incorporating a graphical user interface (GUI) which will enable a proactive patrol of sites, using a series of geographical maps displaying the locations of all connected cameras.
All maps and images from the site’s 200+ cameras will be displayed onto a 70-inch video wall opposed to conventional CCTV monitors that were previously in use.
Damon Kent, Director of Premises at Northern Rock said: “We’re really excited about the revamp. We’ve always believed security is paramount to our business because of the high numbers of people present at our sites. The new control measures can only benefit our customers and staff alike.”
2020 Vision who are based in North Shields are also planning a similar upgrade for Newcastle University. Each control room will create new jobs, as trained operators will be required to supervise each control room.
Peter Houlis, MD at 2020 Vision said: “Security has never been more important following the events of 7/7. With the rapid social and economic development in the region, these measures reflect our commitment to ensuring a safe environment for all.”
2020 Vision was established in 1992 and its services include CCTV, remote site monitoring, integrated systems and concierge solutions. It is the only company in the United Kingdom that has achieved Level 4 status with the Maxpro System from Honeywell.
