How do you operate a CCTV control room?

Due to an increase of crime and terror threats here in the UK, CCTV is being installed thoroughly to ensure that any misbehavior is being detected and acted upon instantly to dilute any incidents that could occur.

This has put more pressure on CCTV operators and although the misconception is that they sit in a chair all day and watch screens — it’s much more complicated than that and adds extreme amounts of pressure to an individual.

To qualify as a CCTV operator, you must take an SIA approved training course, which will occur over three days and covers three different units including: Working in the Private Security Industry, Working as a CCTV Operator and Practical Use of CCTV Systems, to give those who take it a well-rounded and in-depth experience of what the job requires.
